Right to Hike Fun Run and Walk in Georgia

I'm sure many of you remember the tragic story of Meredith Hope Emerson who was murdered on the A.T. in 2008. Well, her friends have a charity to raise money in her honor and they're holding their second annual Run and Walk in North Georgia. Here are the details:

"Sorry for this late announcement but we feel like the host that's getting ready for the party but forgot to send out the invitations.

And what a party we're expecting this year. After winning the Gwinnett Convention and Visitor's Bureau - Event of the Year for the 2008 Ella's Run and Walk at the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center we knew we had our work cut-out to make 2009 even better on Saturday Oct 10th.

Some of the improvements include; More food (BBQ, chili and weenies), a kids play area, a huge pumpkin patch (pumpkins for sale), cash prizes for top runners and door prizes for everyone, live music, lots of vendors (Labrador Friends of the South will be on-site with adoptable dogs and even providing reduced cost micro-chipping for your pets for only $25!), a pre-race packet pick-up (Friday before the race, details on-line soon) and a 10am start time and festival lasting until 2pm.

Last year we had a rush of runners get to the registration 15 minutes before the scheduled start time and this year we're hoping because of the early race packet pick-up, later start, more reasons to get here early and more volunteers should lead to a smoother registration.

We hope the crisp fall air will stay around for our event and complete what we expect to be another stellar day to celebrate the life of Meredith Hope Emerson.

Hope to see you and your furry friends on the 10th.
