When one does a long trek on the A.T.; where do you pick up more food along the trail? Are there places to buy more? Or do I have to have someone leaving me food at various locations?

Hey Pinto
The answer is nearly always small town en-route. The trail goes through lots of them.
Most people can carry about a weeks worth of food before the need to refill.
have someone leaving me food at various locations
Not quite, but I know quite a few people that have friends mail them parcels to Post Offices en route.
