I have a month to go on the AT in June and am leaving from my home in NYC. While I do plan to hike other parts at some point in my life, I only have a month now. Which part would people recommend for only a month, bearing in mind this time of year.

Also, if you were to ball park cost estimates, what you say -- gear not included.
